Loss of a love
Pond poetry contest entry for June, 2018 round 86, using photo prompt ** Image ID #2159792 Unavailable ** monody form

Memories of long ago
Like shells upon the shore
Gathered once, now cast aside
And thought about no more.

We loved, we laughed, you left me.
Alone, confused, bereft.
A cruel tide of things that were
Are all that I have left.

Relentless waves of moments past
Ebb and forever flow,
An ocean of memories
Will drive me mad, I know

So young we were! Full of life,
Invincible so we thought.
But our time was too short lived,
Too soon our fate was wrought.

Sand and shells upon a shelf,
Remind me of the day
You left this life and me behind,
Forever gone away.
