things as I grow older, I realize it's important to know
Things I learned in life
1. Jealously will kill you. Be thankful no matter what you have. Never be jealous of others, they have problems you know nothing about. Daniel was jealous one time because a kid he knew had 7 pairs of shoes.. I said Daniel, you don't have 7 pairs of feet so don't worry about it. Besides , that kid was always having trouble making friends even though his family had money. I reminded him he was blessed with friends, a roof over his head, food and clothes plus a family that loved him to pieces. Don't spend your life looking at others and what they have. Be thankful of all the Lord has given you.

2. Savor the small moments in life along with the big ones. Life is made up of memories that are big and small. Take time to enjoy both. The small ones can be simple and sweet, sometimes so minor that you may overlook them.

3. Little ones really do grow up faster than you think. Before I had Daniel , I never realized how fast time would go. I felt like I blinked and he was a teenager graduating from high school. Cherish time with them while they are young. You only have 18 summers with them. I would much rather have a messy house and happy kids . Before you know it, the house is clean all the time and too quiet because they are gone. .

4. Family is not all about blood, They are made up of all types and some of the closest family I have are friends.

5 Listen to the stories your elders tell you. I know, sometimes they repeat them over and over. Sometimes if you are like me, it's tempting to "tune them out." Try not to, they are the link to your past. One day you will be the link for your kids.

6. Animals are family/best friends too. I got my dog Lady the summer before I started high school. She was with until 2002. She was with me thru the hard times at high school, a bad marriage, two kids. Many times I would be on the porch with my arm around her telling her everything. She was truly my best friend and comforted me thru some rough times. It killed me when she died in April 2002. I truly believe with all of my heart that Heaven will be filled with all of our best friends waiting for us.
