What is our reason for fighting?
Day and Night

In the middle of the night,
When light is far from our minds,
We decide whether to fight,
For those left behind.

And if in this war
We survive 'till dawn,
We will fight no more,
For our enemy is gone.

And after all this we finally see,
It was the darkness that we fought.
We built ourselves up bigger than we could be,
Maybe bigger than we thought.

When we turned around at daylight's break,
Our enemy had fled.
Yet all the war that we could make,
Could not justify bloodshed.

Had we triumphed? Had we won?
We found victory in the light.
But brothers, husbands, fathers, sons,
Had perished in the night.
