Songs of Summer and Mourning Doves
The songs of summer
reverberate through the country
intoning consolation
to despondent souls
as the season slowly dies.

Mourning doves--
Thanatologist1
attempting to comfort
summer's weeping children--
memorialize
summer's end
in ceremonies that celebrate
the season's life.

Line Count: 13
Form: Free Verse
