Hurricane Season

Shattered summer sweeps past to dormant fall
Splattered shutters fight the sideways rain
Battered scarecrows guard pumpkins in the fields
Tattered curtains reveal night's hurricane

Sleep no more in cobweb's lair
Keep counsel, talk to invisible cows
Reap tragedy as you whisper on the line,
Heap tears once steeped in wedding vows
