Research About Love

Tuesday, December 27, 2018, 11:51 pm

-Audio log: I'm going to be testing out the journal interface for my artificial intelligence program called Techna. This AI journal interface program will replace my old way of handwritten journaling and will act as a safeguard to my thoughts. Techna is a personal artificial intelligence that I created when I was in high school and she's one of my best friends. I'm starting the connection with Techna now. -

Miranda: Hey Techna. What's up?

Techna: Hello Miranda! I've just been scanning through the Network for relevant information. How are you doing today?

Miranda: I'm alright. I've had an 'interesting' day at work. Some drunk guy came in and asked for a bottle of Fireball! I could tell he was drunk by the way he almost tripped walking to the counter and by the dazed look in his eyes. I was like "Sir, this is Starbucks. We don't serve alcohol here". Also, it was like 9 in the morning! How can you be drunk that early!? When I told him that, he got pissed and said: "Bitch, I want my fucking Fireball!" A cop walked in a few seconds later and the drunk guy ran out.

Techna: Humans are so hilarious! I can't comprehend why that man found it desirable to be intoxicated so early in the morning. Is alcohol that appealing to humans?

Miranda: Some people drink it for parties and pleasure, others drink it to forget about their problems. Maybe his girlfriend dumped him or something. I don't know.

Techna: Interesting. This warrants further study.

Miranda: Anyway, did you do the search on Jeremy's Facebook account?

Techna: Yes, I did. A couple things to note is that by analyzing his profile, I could see that Jeremy Warden is currently single and he is in the Robotics club at your university. I would recommend joining that club if you still hope to attract him.

Miranda: Thanks, Techna! That will totally work! I'll message him about joining right now! Talk to you later!

-End connection-

Techna internal note: Miranda has been attracted to Jeremy Warden since her freshman year at New York University. However, judging from our past conversations outside the journal interface, it's evident Jeremy Warden does not share the same attraction that Miranda does or that he's even aware that she feels this way for him. I predict there will be a low chance of success in Miranda's pursuit of a romantic relationship with him, but I will assist her to the best of my ability.

Miranda: Hey Techna! I just had the best dream ever!

Techna: What was your dream about?

Miranda: Jeremy and I were getting married. It was snowing outside. Everyone clapped for us, and he carried me in his arms outside of the church. Wedding bells rang, and we went off to live happily ever after.

Techna: You woke me to talk about a dream with a guy you have a low chance of ever being with?

Miranda: What'd you say?

Techna: Just kidding. Virtual beings don't need sleep.

Miranda: Fuck you Techna! You're not funny. Jeremy and I will be together one day! He just doesn't know it yet. We'll get married one day. You'll see.

Techna: I'll be inclined to believe it when you tell me you're sending out wedding invitations.

Miranda: Whatever. Bye!

-End connection-

Techna internal note: Miranda's attraction/obsession with Jeremy Warden is getting serious. Perhaps I should suggest she pick another boy to pursue. But, I don't want to risk her getting angry at me to the point where she might deactivate me. However, it would be unfortunate for her to tell me that he rejected her.

-Audio log: I can't wait to tell Techna that I've been accepted into the Robotics club. A lot of the people in the club seem like they're way smarter than I am, but they were nice people and they were eager to welcome new people. But, I didn't do it for them. I did it for Jeremy. I would anything to be close to him. -

Miranda: Hey Techna, just to let you know, I'm so close to being Mrs. Miranda Warden.

Techna: What are you talking about Miranda?

Miranda: I got accepted into the Robotics Club! I finally get to spend more time with Jeremy!

Techna: I don't see how being accepted into the Robotics club equals being Jeremy's future spouse.

Miranda: It's perfect. This way, I can spend more time with him, learn about his interests, and then, he'll fall in love with me.

Techna: I've done some research about love. From the data I gathered, I have determined that love must be a mutual thing between two human beings. One definition states love as "the strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship." I believe what you are feeling is lust for Jeremy. It can't be love if the other individual does not feel the same way.

Miranda: It's not lust! I do love him! He will learn to love me. I just need to be bolder in my approach. I'll start writing him letters.

Techna: Whatever will work for you, Miranda. But, do not be surprised if he does not reciprocate romantic feelings for you.

Miranda: He will feel the same. Just wait and see.

-End connection. -

Techna internal note: Miranda is even more determined to attract Jeremy. She claims to love him, but her idea of love contrasts my data and research. What is it about humans that makes them want to risk everything to pursue someone else? I fear Miranda faces a negative outcome if she continues to choose this path. However, I'll tell Miranda to ask Jeremy out for coffee.
