The decision has been made to create a journal. Even someone with my prowess for commanding mental energies has a limit. I have lived far too many centuries to easily keep memories in order. The delay in settling on this choice was due only to the fact that maintaining a physical copy of this journal would have been beyond impractical.
The mystical items I carry while in human form all integrate themselves into my body in my natural form. Though I would have been capable of creating the necessary enchantments on a physical journal, it was far simpler to go this route, a planar journal locked away by the series of psychic barriers you had to get past in order to now be reading this. Consider yourself privileged. As knowledge of a written record of my history comes to light (True secrets are an illusion. Someone always knows.) there will be any number of beings who will attempt to gain access. Those barriers you passed are in place for the purpose of stopping those creatures, and are anything but harmless.
I have been called cruel for my methods in the past. Of course, I have been called many things, both positive and negative, depending on which side of The Balance I was favoring at the time. Even the other members of the Elder Council often see things from a different perspective. However, I am not only the sole warrior amongst the esteemed group of Elder Dragons; I am also the only true neutral member. They are well aware that my point of view will often be far different from theirs. That is, after all, why they sought me out in the beginning.
You can expect more entries into this journal as various events trigger certain memories. I dare not place my entire history into one entry. It would take you days to get through it all. So, I will leave you with this simple introduction, and this reminder. Always keep in mind, my treasured friend, that I have vowed my protection over you. My loyalty is as persistent in life as I. You know how to call me. I pray you will do so whenever the need is there. The planar barriers of a thousand realms cannot stop that signal from reaching me.
