Poem entry to The Writer's Cramp contest 18Nov18
When demons play their "magic" game,
They try to trap, amaze, and stun,
"Other ways" are the devil's aim.

Practice magic, you'll burn in flame,
Wiser men know to turn and run,
When demons play their "magic" game.

Magical life's never the same,
It's just another way to fun,
"Other ways" are the devil's aim.

Talk to the dead that's why you came
Fallen words are loyal to none
When demons play their "magic" game.

The wild beasts your magic will tame,
A lust for love, it will be won,
"Other ways" are the devil's aim.

Some say God is the One to blame,
Then deny the rise of His Son,
When demons play their "magic" game,
"Other ways" are the devil's aim.

Villanelle; Consists of nineteen lines and is comprised of two rhymes. The first and third lines of the first verse become the alternating final lines of the next four verses. In the last stanza, they form a couplet and become the "Closure". Finally, all the 2nd lines of each stanza rhyme with each other.
