A brief poem (with a twist) about the excitement of visiting a fairground
The giant cardboard poster states,
"The Carnival's back in Town"
The smile that beams across my face
Replaces the normal frown

I rush down to the local Park
Excitement in me grows
A huge expanse of colour and noise
The lights, the smells, side-shows

The peanut vendor sells his wares,
Hot dogs and Popcorn too
So little time to take each ride
So many things to do

The giant Ferris Wheel lifts me
High above the ground,
The Switchback ride, spins so fast
The grace of the Merry-Go-Round

The Dodgem Cars let out frustration
A child-like road rage
More cotton candy before I leave
I wish i would never age

Once more I shed a sorrowful tear
As I exit through the gates,
I'll come back here again next year
When i'll be Forty Eight!
