my companion of over 4 years, 88 years of age, now being transferred to a Rest home
FOR A DEAR FRIEND

My soul cries for you,
Recalling all things new-
--When I first saw your face
And you smiled, through and through.
With a heavy heart, I note today
the text someone wrote today
"Join the dance", said in the rain
but I'm cold, frank and plain.
' Bleakest days are harbored here,
Yet, I feel God's presence near
And I cannot cry or fear
For He remains.
Jesus is my Harbor Light
Leads us back o'er the deep
His hand instrumental
In the promises we keep
He can grant our greatest miracles
Weave His peace, make us complete
Bearing us onward
'Til His face we finally meet.

And you?
You took my hand
While we lingered
In a land too
Soon to change, sharing
Life's long, joyful hours.
A trickling of seconds
Suddenly our mortal thoughts
Found us tested
While that brought
Your Garden's flowers:
While the seeds and tender shoots
came up through the soil
and put down roots
God's sun shone bright and His rain
Soaked them for hours.
Go rest in peace and beauty
Trust in newness,
Love Him truly
I'm so grateful
For the love you have given.
And your heart, words and deeds
Have braved the common weeds
Like the Savior,
Holy, His loved, and
--His Forgiven.
