Poem for Writers Cramp
SLIPPERS

When I can't sleep
While night's still deep
What do I do to cope?

Dream of a beach
In Panama
Where I might elope?

Or should I try
To read a bit
When there is no sleep

Maybe I'll get
Lucky yet
And find that slumber deep

Leaving behind
All hope of rest
I search for new insight

Laying in
The dark is like
An eleven hour flight

I toss and turn
And sigh and moan
But still I have no plan

But wait
It's coming to me
I'll do it, yes I can

I straighten up
Put slippers on
And from my bed I roam

I might as well
Begin the day
By writing my next poem
