Melanie attacked by unknown person. Why?
Melanie attacked


. . . Squeezing her throat; she can't breath. She is gasping to get air. She tries to swallow but can't. She needs to get away from him, get him off of her. She wrestles under his weight. She begins to lose consciousness, she struggles with her surroundings. She hears something, as he loosens his grip on her she screams. It is a muffled, low scream and her throat ached. She grabs the lamp lying on the floor beside her and swings it at the "assailant", he leaps off of her and exits the room. she lay

Someone slams into her from behind, she cries out. She catches herself with her right hand on the night table and her left hand cradling her belly. She hears the lamp crash to the floor. . . . He shoves her down with his boot and her head slams into the floor. She screams in pain and then rolls over to her back and kicks him. Her head pounding in her ears, she couldn't open her eyes. She kept aimlessly kicking at him and flailing her arms. Her eyes are closed, her heart is pounding in her ears. She

She is angry.
She turns
she is face to face with him
She tries to strike him . . . .
She has to move. keep moving, keep striking him, get away from him.

From the porch Detective Danes knocks on the door. As his knuckles tap one time the door slowly opens. He reaches for his gun and draws it, as he looks cautiously into the dark room. "Melanie"?" he calls out. He takes several steps into the room. Instinctively, he glances around the room with his gun aiming at the dark. He slows his breath as he listens for anything that will give him a clue as to what is going on. He stalls. Then he hears it, a noise from upstairs.

He runs upstairs with his gun still drawn. He heads towards Melanie's room. (he had been there once before when the "bad guy" was in there looking for something).

Goes to hospital immediately to have the baby (and Melanie) checked out. need a scene here. Does he come to visit her out of concern or out of duty as a police officer? Is he there mainly for an interrogation of what happened or there because he cares for her?
a.) is it ransacked or just disturbed? How does she know? how does the person get in the room? is it locked? what about someone seeing the person break in.


He took everything from her. He took her confidence, her secure and safe environment, her pride. But he didn’t take her life and he didn’t take her baby. Melanie laid in the hospital bed staring at the ceiling and cradling her stomach. He did not take her baby from her she thought. Her last connection to her husband. This baby was everything. She still had her baby. Her attacker had been scared off, thankfully he had been interrupted and fled. Detective Danes, she thought he had interrupted her attack. She knew she should be grateful but he agitated her. The man that annoyed her since day one was now her hero, he had saved her life.
