A realistic fiction poem-story that is based off the United States' border issue.
The children were at the border,
fear filled within them,
Not knowing what is up ahead,
They were traped in a lie,
thinking that they were gonna be freed,
But like so many before them,
They were sold to new, darker faces,
of the so-called Wonderland of America.

They were fooled, they were now called a new word,
Sex slave,
They didn't know the term,
That's just what they know,
On their first week in America,
they figured out what the term meant,
They cried out in pain and fear,
For help which they prayed for but knew,
would never come,
As they were raped and molested.

"If only," they thought,
"I never should have believed in their lies,
the lies of the person that have brought me here."
Other children had worst fates,
Another was left in the desert for dead,
A third escaped but died out of hunger,
A fourth was killed because they resisted.

Now all Americans have to think,
Of what would they do?
How would they react?

We can never know,
As we stand proud of ourselves.
Without knowing what is happening in the dark.
