Meditations on the Atlantic
The Ocean

When I die
Spread my ashes on the beach
Somewhere south of Carolina
Maybe the Florida keys
Let salt and swell carry me
Away to better waters
As the sun beats down on the backs
Of my sons and daughters
Know that in my absence
I finally feel whole
As the ocean carries me
All the way back home

Let this be the end
Let this be peace
Let this be the end
Of me

And when I die
Don’t talk about my life
Forget you ever met my children
Pretend you’re not my wife
Remember the regrets
Remember all the pain
Don’t kid yourself by saying
You want me here again
Just let me go
Into the ocean
Just let me go
With no emotion

Let this be the end
Let this be peace
Let this be the end
Of me
