This is my view about why a longtime game show host could get cancer...
Every single one of us has got their very own pop culture heroes; For those who sit on their easy chairs each night, especially my uncle and aunt, they watch a certain little TV game show called Jeopardy!, and the show is hosted by a man who goes by the name of Alex Trebek; I guess everybody loves Alex Trebek because I think that he is sort of everyone’s teacher to America’s television viewers who sit on their easy chairs almost every night…
But there shall come a time when heroes that we love the very most shall very well end up in peril, and that is certainly true for Alex Trebek: Just last month, he has announced that he has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer; But he says that in spite of this, he vows to keep working, and he even let out his sense of humor, saying that he has no choice, he has to host that game show for three more years, because that’s what the terms of his contract say!
But there had been rumors that those behind the scenes are now finding a way to replace Trebek if and/or when he retires...But in truth, I do not think that anybody would want that fact that a strong, brave man such as Trebek would be replaced-He is all that the American public has got left! And that fact has also gotten me to wonder something as this…

There happens to be a certain little question as to why bad things happen to good people, and when it comes to people like Alex Trebek, even though he is a good, authoritative person, it is only that a bad thing such as cancer that could change a person’s life in a split second; And afterward, there’s the outpouring of love, support, and affection for someone whom they have loved so very dearly for so many years.
Now, what does one say when an icon has been stricken with a disease such as cancer? Back when I was young, I used to listen to Jeopardy! on a radio station that simulcasts a TV station, WPVI-TV 6 in Philadelphia, and in those few years, before I somehow lost interest, I enjoyed that game show. And now, with that announcement of Alex Trebek’s cancer diagnosis, that would probably make me want to become interested in that show a little bit more.
I heard somewhere that when a hero is fallen, it is fallen for a while; But then, the hero gets back up again, stronger and more better than ever before, and I think that I can agree with a statement such as that: Alex Trebek may have been stricken with cancer, but he shall come back stronger and ever than he ever was when he first hosted that certain game show back in 1984. I am hoping and praying that he keeps on fighting cancer and that he shall win.
