“Janice, stop fussing with me or I’m going to get angry!” Jeff scowled.

“You’re just a big baby,” Janice smiled.

Janice was beautiful, young and sexy and everything he thought he wanted, until he married her. Now she used her sexiness to get everything she wanted out of him, and there were no qualities to her being young and beautiful beyond costing him money and having every guy her age think he was her father. They were going to a party tonight, one of Jeff’s oldest friends so he couldn’t get out of it. Dread.

“You go gas up the car, and I’ll be ready when you get back. Or do you want to take my car? A sexy little convertible could show up those stuffy friends of yours.”

“No!” Jeff said, feeling at the end of his rope. “We’ll take my car.” The last thing he wanted to do was alienate more of his friends! He left.

When he came back, Janice wasn’t waiting. He went in and suddenly could hear her screaming his name, apparently stuck in the elevator. The possibilities bolted into his head like a bullet. He could be free.

Laying in a lounge chair by the hotel pool in Phoenix the next day, Jeff made some plans. He’d say he left on a business trip after stopping at the party. He would say he hadn’t spoken to Janice because she told him she would be on a beauty retreat; no phones allowed! He assumed she couldn’t possible last more than a week stuck in that tiny elevator. He’d come home and find her. Everyone would console him on the “tragic accident.”

Janice, who had three brothers, and consequently was quite good at fixing things herself, was at home, making some plans of her own.
