Starting anew
“And when the blood flows, look not towards me. For I will be the one pulling knives from my chest, one for everyday that I’ve known you.”

Those were the word he spoke as he buried the ashes of the pictures and trinkets she left when she shattered his heart.
There he buried it,
The faith in love he once held in the highest regard, almost as deep as the hole in his chest.
There it was buried,
The ashes of a past long meant to burn.
…and the rain fell…

With resolve vivified he stood,
Fists clenched hard as he fought back his tears.
The thunder rolled as he looked toward the blackened sky…
…and the rain fell…

Lightning streaked past as he closed his eyes and wiped his long hair back.
He inhaled deep and as the Thunder clapped, long did he exhale.
A wave of relief poured over his body as his eyes rested on the place where he had buried those painful ashes
There he buried it,
The heart that once beat so furiously with the fire of love…
…and the rain fell…
