I write about the delightful morning light
I love the morning light.
When the sun is slipping, stealing,
peering above the horizon,
just before becoming full day.

Light chases shadows;
oranges, yellows, reds.
Warm and fuzzy shades.
The light hits the high points,
leaving folds of shadows on
hills and trees.

The sleepy birds chirp themselves awake.
Cats yawn and stretch, and
dogs shake and wag their tails.
Shorebirds, ducks, and geese start their
daily search for tasty morsels.

I love the morning light
when it hits the ocean waves
and softens the blues and greens
of the water.

I love the morning light
as it slips over the fence
and slowly lights up my breakfast.
I love the morning light
as it chases away the darkness of night
and always brings with it the promises
of another day; people to meet and things to do.
