BURNING BRIDGES

I have crossed my last bridge,
The bridge of no return.
Too many I have crossed,
Not thinking they would burn.
~
This time I read the words,
Those on that one way sign
Then I knew each I crossed
Was only for one time.
~
I think I crossed my last,
Will walk an unknown road,
Not knowing for how long,
Or the weight of each load.
~
Bridges over water
And those above the land,
We cross every day,
Made by the workers hand.
~
Those that we pass over
Only once and then burn.
They are the ones of life,
Bridges of no return.
