A POEM ABOUT THE ROLE SOCIETY PLAYS IN PROMOTING EATING DISORDERS

MOCK ME

Mock me, mock me

meek and mildly.

Keep mocking me till...

mindful madness begins to muster.

It starts with:

"Meaning is mastering the masses".

First, it's: measuring meters; pumping muscle and meticulous monitoring of meals.

then...

it's mind the gap, menarche,

and more of nothing...less is more!

It's morning, midday, even midnight.

"Markings of madness?"

I've successfully landed myself deep in mayhem.

I've marked myself; made a

Manipulative Monster who

monitors my every move but,

"What the heck!"

At least, I'm now the meatless mannequin who fits their mould.

Never mind the motion sickness; missed moments or

that I may never see motherhood!

"Friends, family, a future ahead?"

All been exchanged for monotonous living in a madhouse instead!

The media made it out to be magnificence

but it's actually masked malevolence @ its best!

Maybe, I should have listened?

Perhaps, there really is more to life than

What meets the eye!
