When All Doesn't Go to Plan

A Turn of Events

Steven was pulled from the back of the car, his hands tied, and a burlap sack placed over his head. He had no idea where he was at. Two people were currently dragging him. No one spoke and all he could hear was the sound of their boots on the cement.

"This the one?" asked a male voice

There was no audible answer and he could assume that one of the people dragging him must have nodded in response. There was the sound of a metal door creaking open and he was tossed into a room where he landed hard on the floor.

What felt like an eternity passed. He heard the door creak open again and close with a loud bang. Then there were footsteps walking behind him.

"Well, I guess that wasn't what you were expecting was it?" he said

Steven grunted, his head was killing him, and everything was still a blur. What exactly did happen? He was pulled to his feet and slammed into a chair.

"Now, you're going to tell me who the hell you are and everything you know." Said the voice as the sack was pulled from his head.

He squinted his eyes in the light of the room. Steven looked around it was well lit but the room was cold and damp. He was obviously in a basement cell or some sort of bunker. The cement was stained dark brown almost black. He didn't like the look of that. His eyes panned around the room it was sparsely furnished. There was a table in the one corner with a cloth draped over it. He finally looked up and seen the face of the man who had been talking. He was tall with light blond hair done in a crew cut.

"That's better isn't?" the man asked

This man was smiling but his demeanor was anything but friendly.

"What do you want from me?" asked Steven

"What do we want?" He pulled up a chair and sat across from Steven "I think you can figure that out all on your own."

Steven shook his head. "I really don't know." What exactly happened?"

"How convenient for you that you don't seem to remember."

The man pulled out a flower from his pocket. "Does this remind you of anything?

"No" he said. "Should it?"

"You were holding onto it for dear life when we pulled your sorry ass from that truck"

That's right Steven thought he was driving a truck. He was angry. But why? He couldn't remember.

"Look Kid, we can do this the easy way..." The smile on the mans face widened "Or we can do this the fun way."

"I really have no idea what you're talking about!" Steven yelled

This wasn't good he needed to get the hell out of here.

The man stood and walked to the table in the corner.

"I had hoped you would say that"

He pulled back the cloth revealing an assortment of things Steven could only imagine the use of. He picked up a long extension cord device with a box and two jumper cable ends on it and walked back over to Steven. The man plugged the extension cord into the wall. He pulled up the Steven's pant legs and clasped an alligator clip to each leg the teeth digging deep into his flesh and Steven screamed.

"Oh, don't you worry it's going to get a lot worse than that for you"

"What do you want from me?" Steven sobbed.

The man picked up the box. "Where's the resistance hiding?"

"What?" Steven looked at him confused.

The man nodded and turned a knob on the box. Instantly the electricity flooded through his body and he screamed in agony.

"Where are they?" he asked again.

Steven sobbed. "I don't know."

Instantly he was electrocuted again. He was starting to remember some things. He was on a mission. He was hauling a load of explosives. Something went wrong. They didn't go off. It all flooded back to him. His mother, his sister, everything. And he smiled

"You think this is funny?" asked the man who shocked him again

Steven screamed again and began laughing. "You could say that."

The man stared at him. This wasn't a reaction he had seen before.

"Please, do tell me what is so funny."

Down the hall there was the sound of gun shots.

"Well you see, the funny thing is we've been looking for you guys too. And since I'm still alive they've been tracking my GPS tag." Steven smiled from ear to ear

Gunshots were ringing through the corridor outside the room.

"You want us? Sounds like you're going to have the opportunity any minute" Said Steven still smiling.
