Totem pole on yonder hill
Wooden faces on guard
Eyes look in full stare
Beggar walks on by.

Knots of pine carved to see
Fighting now the sands of space
Painted eyes sightless and blind
Chief on top cannot speak.

Totem pole held as sacred
Omens luring in the prey
Sedna lips that stand silent
Just paint on display.
