A dear john letter.
SHE WROTE ME THIS LETTER

She wrote.
You called me every night, sent a letter every day.
Asked me to come and marry you but I could not see my way.

Picking up my pen and paper, I wrote to you a letter,
How I thought we should wait, get to know each other better.

One last time you wrote me, said only one thing you did need.
Just wanted me to love you, thought you asked too much indeed.

Was just that one thing you wanted, believed in our love I’d seen a crack.
You would bother me no more, to me would not be coming back.

Later I was married, but that marriage failed.
Compared to how I felt for you my feelings for him paled.

Now I think of your words often, you were honest and so true.
Those last words you wrote me - me not knowing I loved you.

Then she signed the letter…
