A free verse poem I wrote
I see it.
Not as a name,
not as a face,
but as a description.
Plastered onto your forehead is one word;
an adjective.
You, your body, your face, everything I see, is not who you are in my eyes.
But it is your word
Very rarely will I see a positive identity,
but I can't be so quick to judge.
For the identities appearing to me are of your darkest secrets;
most hated attributes.

You hate it.
People hate it.
The world hates it.

I hate being able to see like that.

So please help me.
Create a positive identity.
Better yet, erase it altogether.
Let me see your face.
Let me see you for who you are.
