Dealing with panic attacks.
In darkness terror comes my way
like razor claws upon my heart.
Another panic episode
that pulls the halves of me apart.

I splash in sweat like flailing swans
the urgent need to remain whole.
How stubborn this anxiety
to grab the reins and take control!

Perhaps I’ll wish upon a star
to quell the feelings of despair,
so I can institute ignore
and pretend terror is not there.

I’d kiss the rays of morning sun
and breathe the air sans any fear.
In thankfulness I would be whole
without the bane of nervous near.

With heartbreak do I let it come
to foil peace within the night.
It is my nighttime enemy,
still I am heading for the light.
