A lifetime of love ended too soon by dementia.
Two teenagers fell in love and pledged their love, their lives and their hearts in marriage. Every year he gave her roses or chocolate covered strawberries along with a card and sometimes a nice piece of jewelry each renewing the gift of his heart for 59 magnificent years of being together. On the 6oth year he had no idea what Valentine’s Day was so he gave no further gifts but he still gave his heart once again. On the 61st year he did not know who she was any longer or even who he was sometimes, so it became just another day. Now on this 62nd year she sits alone with an empty heart because her Valentine no longer lives. Dementia took him physically away but it cannot take him from her heart that she still gives to him this day and every day.
