Some children get so excited when they see something they really want...and others can't.
The Forlorn Child


Vacant eyes
Staring up
Where is the hope?
Quiet voice
Silent question
Treasure to take home?
Standing still
Toes turned in
No excitement shown.
Patiently listening
Holding tight
Hoping this to own.
Whispered answer
Of question asked
Head and eyes bow down.
Slowly walking
Back to place
Expressing not a frown.
Returning stance
Silent obedience
Always need to cope?
Dismal world
Without a voice
Eyes without hope?
