When the guest inside your head won’t leave you alone until you leave.
I tried to listen to what you said,
I promise I tried my hardest,
but my mind was stronger and
I could not hold on any longer.

It sinks its claws into my soul,
tearing the white, godly,
beautiful substance
into something dripping red,
no longer clean or whole.

The windows are dark
and steel encased;
The doors are hard and
untouchable like toxic waste,
which is to say my eyes
are blank and my mouth shut.

All of my doors to
to safety are sealed.
So how do you say I am
safe when I cannot escape?
