April 30 Entry. GloPoWriMo 2020 (Free Verse)
Dead eyes dream in darkness
as the living fear to breathe.
Sunlight brings a brief relief
though one thief dug beneath
unshackled spines
in these lying times.

Ride light, then fly
upright, indoors.

Horned beaks in arrhythmia,
straw-like fingers fail to move
a clockward limb down as
bone fragments fail to heal
but still, they steal
the rubber from our wheels.

No stars pitched a wonky eyelid,
once wound tight and twice removed

It's not about our senseless words
or what we've felt inside.
This ride's about emotion
and the joys we try to hide.

Ride right or hide
upright, on earth.
