Inspiration for Mozambique

ANina Evans

5/14/20

Mother Mozambique

My children of the sun,

roots beneath the rain.

Lift your head you are not alone.

No momma or papa in sight,

we despise war too.

Your broken hearts and scars,

etched in stone upon your soul.

Till the land, sift the rice,

Grind the bean.

Mother Mozambique rise!

Rise up, grow up Maputo.

South Africa dance with glee.

Rise! Rise up! Mozambique.

Beneath the clouds are rainbows,

believe in what is not seen.

Poverty is high, survival is low,

grow your faith.

Drink the nourishment of God,

The Most High.

Mother Mozambique,

a pearl in my heart.

My Mozambique children,

you shall inherit the earth.

You shall walk taller than the trees.

Sons and daughters of Maputo,

soar higher than the eagle.

Whisper into God's ear,

he hears your plea.

Rise! Rise up! Mozambique

Rise up! Grow up!

Wake up, dance up, sing up.

My children of Mother Mozambique,

My children of the sun,

Roots beneath the rain.
