And so do I

You talk of freedom

But freedom is interpreted,
Not defined

So, your version of freedom
Is not necessarily
Mine.

You talk of freedom
The freedom to roam

But for me, you know it's freeing
To just stay at home.

You talk of freedom
To drive your car

But for me, my thoughts
Carry me near or far.

You talk of freedom
To meet a multitude

But what sets me free is
Quiet solitude.

You talk of freedom
And so do I

Yours is the freedom to laugh
Mine, the freedom to cry.

Freedom is freedom
Should be ours by right

But so hard to understand
To recognise by sight

Freedom is freedom,
Intangible - felt
So sublime

Can't be measured
By measuring tape
Or clocks that chime

Freedom is freedom
The greatest thing to possess

Freedom from greed, from hatred
From prejudice or stress.

Let's talk of freedom
Freedom for you, for me
Let's talk of the freedom
To be truly free.
