We Meet Again

“They didn’t recognize me.”

“You knew they likely wouldn’t. You were so young.”

“I know. I just couldn’t stop thinking they might, even after all these years.

“You were seven, you’re in a sixty-five-year-old body now, how could they?”

“I just... hoped. Anyway, I’m glad he let me guide them. It was nice seeing them before they passed. How does he do that anyway?”

“Your current incarnation is asleep, remember?”

“Oh, that’s right. Anyway, I gave them all the information to follow which will bring them to the bridge just as it’s about to collapse. They will go very quickly, and together.”

“And then you will catch up before they get new assignments.”

“I already know so much of what happened to them. After I was killed, my father began working with a group who helps with missing children. Then Mother joined and they eventually opened it worldwide. It’s quite famous. The person I am now, has worked with them for his entire career. He knows all about them.”

“That’s probably why you were sent to guide them through. It’s personal to you, and also to the person you are living as now.”

“I can’t wait to see them. I feel as excited as that seven-year-old who left them all those years ago!”

“Well, get ready, look at yourself.”

“I look like a seven-year-old again!”

“Just in time, here come your parents.”

From across the clouds came the sweetest calls, “Son!”
