As a wizard, I depend on my black cat.
I’ve studied all those wizard books;
still, my Familiar gives me looks.
Gold eyes which pierce into my soul,
Beelzebub, as black as coal.

Oh cat, you help me with a purr
as wizard spell begins to stir.
Within the air of magic laws,
Beelzebub extends sharp claws

to help my sorcery get by;
a vulture’s ear, a gopher’s eye
into the mix I cast intent
assured by He my time’s well spent.

A cunning cat in stark meow
relieves my wizard angst somehow.
Portent of super-nature blend,
Beelzebub helps me no end.

Companion of the feline sort,
he comes to me, a helpful sport
with tail upturned like curlicue
and does not leave till I am through.

I don red cape—a show begins;
Beelzebub meows and grins
much like the Cheshire cat renown:
the wizard in me I have found.

Electric spark from finger’s end,
I have Familiar as a friend
to keep the joy of wizardry…
enchanted crystal energy.

Familiar helper in the night,
catspaw with which I find delight.
Black magic now and wizard wand,
Beelzebub I wait upon.
