In this story we follow a little deer who never grow up.
The bushes rattled and out came a surprisingly small deer. It has a white nose and spotted brown fur that has been tended carefully by its parent that the fur deflected the few streaks of sunlight passing though the canopies.

The little thing moved its hooves in rapid fashion, stomping the newborn patch of juicy grass and sinking a little in the leaf litter.

Its amber eyes filled with delight as it followed the hoof prints of its elders and tasted the air for the lilac sense from its mother.

The little deer bobbed about, chasing after a white butterfly and stumbled headfirst into a spider web. The youngling tried to rub its antlers against a tree trunk like the older males, but it only has two little budding stumps on its brilliant head, they make him looks even cuter.

He trotted along the long-established route, bending low and examining the prints on the ground. The forest floor had been disturbed recently, the decomposing leaves were scattered by hundreds of hoofs as the herd raced merrily towards the stream to bath and drink.

The little deer tried to tug along, but his elder sister had forbidden him from coming along.

With a roll of his eyes, he decided he might come secretly and observe the youngster deer coming of age and their subsequent frenzy for a mate.

Then he paused.

A smell that is unfamiliar, it smells like blood and gnashing teeth and sharp claws.

Alarm! Alarm!

The little deer tried to run but he is too late.

A puffball leaped from a branch up high and landed on the deer's back. He is shocked by the feeling of something sharp pinning against his bodies and something stinging his back.

Then he rushed through the forest, rushing through bushes, bumping into trees and waving his neck then leaping over fallen logs.

But the thing on his back cling on, and the little deer felt pain, his eyes teared up. Then the ground beneath him fall away and he rolled in midair.

The thing on his back finally give away and the deer trashed his legs about, trying to kick the predator away.

Then he falls into a pond.

The water is chilly, he moved his body and tried to keep his snout above water.

But the puffball was faster, and it climbed onto the little deer's back again.

"I did not know that you are such a fearful little deer." Its voice mocked the little deer.

The deer turned his head and found a tiny cat, who sat upright, licking its paws.

"YOU!" the little deer yelled, "I thought only eat insects and small prey, the books said you are not known to hunt anything bigger than yourself!"

The tiny cat yawned and waved a wet paw dismissively. "If I were you, I would watch where you are going."

The little deer turned and found himself drifting towards the center of the decent sized pond.

Then a large shadow loomed beneath them.

The next second they were lifted out of the water and the deer found itself standing on scales.

Then before he begun to panic, they were being lifted to the edge of the pond.

As the deer was being lowered to the ground, a voice said to him and the cat on his back, "Tell me story you two."

The deer looked up as the thing helped them out of the water stared down at them, it's a huge snake.
