Tribute to the daisy.
Of Celtic legend, purity,
symbol of the daisy;
plus innocence, white
a common European
species, Bellis perennis,
orange or yellow eye,
blooms profuse between
April and June, the riot
of they in myriad field,
warming to temperate
spring, chary of summer
heat, boasting beauty
to those who stroll
gladly makeshift paths;
the verdant backdrop
affords to famous flower,
to a bloom so enduring
as to ingrain more than
one precious thought.
