Alex is sent to the past to search for valuable info before the rival company gets it.
--PROLOGUE--

Alexxar groaned loudly as soon as his master left the room.

“Ego emundarit iam pridem stabula (I cleaned the stables already)!” Alexxar exclaimed, snatching the broom from where it was leaning up against the wall. He sighed and made his way to the stables out the door where he and three other servants slept.

The stables were at least six times bigger than then where he and the other slaves slept. And when Alexxar got into the stables, dragging the broom behind him, he found one of the others.

“Hi, Aelia,” Alexxar sighed.

“Master told you to clean the stables again?” Aelia guessed. He nodded and started to sweep.

“Receperint ad vitam servus (Welcome to the slave life),” Aelia said, grabbing another broom, and helping him sweep.

Alexxar started to grumble under his breath about signing up for this. I mean, sure: He did sign up for this. He signed up to try out the time machine at his work and study life in 100 A.D. before the rival company, who was literally trying anything to stop the company from doing it before them. But he did not think that he was going to do chores all day and night, without even being allowed to take a bath.

Alexxar was about to strike up a conversation with Aleia when someone else walked into the stable.

“Hey, you, Alex.” A man dressed semi-appropriately to the era stopped at the entrance.

Alexxar raised an eyebrow, and Aelia said, “Quis es? (Who are you)? You aren’t permitted here.”

“Whatever,” The man said, waving his hand at her, “Alex, we’ll talk outside.”

He left.

“You know him?” Aelia asked. Alexxar shook his head and put the broom down. Did the other company find him? This man spoke like he was from the modern-day, and he definitely wasn’t from the company Alexxar worked for. He was told that only he would be sent. Only an expert they said. This guy didn’t even know Latin.

Alexxar turned to Aelia, “Can you do a favor for me?”

Alexxar quickly told Aelia what he needed, and she agreed. They then sprinted out the door the man came from.

A gunshot.

Aelia yelped as he heard the noise and immediately punched the man square in the jaw, knocking him out and to the ground.

“Are you okay?” Alexxar asked, quickly taking the gun from off of the ground.

“What was that?!” Exclaimed Aelia, “Who is this man?”

Alexxar sighed, “It’s a long story.”
