A response to the song, 'Memories.'
Something about growing older,
(obituaries are like memory books)
and we feel like we've lost more people than we know.
But as long as we remember them
they yet have life, although differently,
and we've yet a long way to go.

Missing is remembering,
a bringing into focus of those
we've lost along the way.
Across the world or beyond the veil
we can still grasp their essence
for they are not that far away.

The hugs become a mental squeeze,
the echoes of their voices
the distant song of other rhymes.
Faded photographs, that 'one day when...'
imbued with love with unyielding
and stay with us for all our times.

Far is just perspective;
a how we choose to perceive:
near and far are neighbors across the way.
Kept in our hearts and in our minds
we need to remember
they're not that far away.
