Time's Up

The game stopped.

“What happened?” Gina sat back. She clicked the mouse multiple times.

Rose leaned into the computer, squinted at the screen.

“I don’t know. What did you do?”

“Nothing. I just clicked on the red box.”

Rose grabbed the mouse from Gina. She opened a new screen.

“Is this the screen you were in?”

They saw a bright red screen with the words “TIME’S UP” centered, big black words blinking on the screen.

“Yep, that’s the one. What happened?” Gina repeated her question.

“It can’t be good. I’ve only seen that one other time.”

“And?”

Rose looked at Gina. Her eyes were wide. Then she turned away and shut down the computer.

“We need to leave. Now.”

Rose went to the door. She waited for Gina.

“Gina. Now. I mean it. We need to leave now.”

“You’re scaring me, Rose. What do you mean you’ve seen this before? When before?”

Rose and Gina rushed out the door.

“Right before my house blew up. Tell me you paid your insurance.”
