A Christmas Witch
Listen for the rolling thunder
Crawl through Alpine nights
Echoes flow round darkened woods
Stay home, do not take fright

Make hearth and home neat and worthy
For all to live and strive
Be alert, your loom be sturdy
If there's a wish to thrive

For Perchta waits, knife in hand
She searches every home
Be sure a bowl of porridge, leave
Wherever the witch shall roam

For she will not hesitate
To gut you through and through.
Bringing along her cohorts
All fighting for a view

Of the death of an idle woman
Bleeding ‘til she’s dry.
Punishment for laziness
Work hard, you'll be passed by.
