Sometimes, life is strange and wonderful for the oddest of reasons.

Sometimes, in that space between
two heartbeats, or two flutters
of a hummingbird's wings
a connection bursts into being.
Instantaneous.
A soul sighing Yes
and you just know.

Like the solution to
a complex mathematical equation
where x equals y
on a multitude of levels.
So simple, really, when all
the pieces fall into place,
where you know they've been
all along.

Just waiting for fates to align once again.

A greeting, eons-old
and as bright and shiny as
dew-drenched morning.
Two kindred souls
who could not be more different
and yet
are so in sync, in tune.
The muse laughs -
he's so amused
at the foibles and still, the forte
of mere humans.

Like an unfinished poem
that has been searching
for the ultimate rhyme,
that brilliant line
to bring it all into being.

So layered, and yet,
so simple. Just pure.
Just there.
Just when needed.
Adjusting to encompass
that compass pointing
true north.
