A love poem to my youngest baby and only son
I gaze upon your little face,
and memorize every detail,
knowing how quickly time will pass
and all that life will entail.

I've been here twice before,
watching as the years pass by,
but this is all bittersweet
For these are different tears I'll cry.

You may not be my only child,
but you are my only son,
and this familiar experience
Will be my final one.

I will not bear more children,
and I do not feel regret,
but every passing moment
is one I won't forget.

All the firsts I'll share with you
Inside my heart I'll store,
For each and every first
Will be the closing of a door.

So if I hold you tighter,
just let me have this joy,
Because you are my baby,
my only little boy.
