I won a Carson McCullers Literary Award at my school for this!
Some phrases stick with me.
In Wace’s translation he takes
Geoffery’s dry sentiment and reinvents:
Let Such Secrets Lie.

An odd word, secret,
I always misspell it.
It comes out secrete
Meaning produce, discharge, emit.

There are parts to me
I choose to keep hidden
Personality traits, likes, dislikes,
My little secrets.

I keep myself unknown
It saves me and it kills me
My mother knows I am made of secrets,
But that is as far as she knows.

To lose my secrets,
To secrete instead,
Might ruin me.
It might redeem me.
