Hubby got new-fangled, hi-tech, Bluetooth hearing aids. 4-11-2021
Hearing Aids

White noise punctuated
by muffled gibberish.
Significant extrapolation:
guessing raised to a fine art.

Frustrated partner, endlessly
repeating words lost as hard consonants
are swallowed. Low sounds
reverberate.

Instantaneous revelation. The lost
and hidden revealed. He hears the
peepers, the dryer, the refrigerator
gurgling ice cubes.

He hears.
Now, he needs
to relearn
how to listen.
