Poem #1 for Poetry Prompt Challenge
Waiting for the Sandman

On a chilly autumn evening
waiting for the giver
of dreams to alight
on my windowsill tonight.

I watch the spiral smoke trails
twisting with the passage of his flight.
A small denizen from the Realm of Fae,
He flies with gossamer wings
distributing fairy dust
to weary souls at bay.

The fairy dust he mines from
deep within the Land of Nod.
His mission is to bring those
carriers of burdens a respite
from of the weight of the world this night.

Hovering with soundless beating wings
He sprinkles slumber dust from above
to preserve my tired eyes in repose.
