A poem about camping
What is it like to go on a camping trip?
I can only imagine because I have never been.
Is it a time for beef jerky strips?
Should I bring a pen?

I am thinking, sleeping in tents on the ground
In sleeping bags would be a bit uncomfortable.
Trying to sleep listening to the outdoor sounds,
Worried dangerous wildlife isn’t just a fable.

Sitting around the campfire eating smores,
And telling scary stories and singing camp songs.
Taking hikes and the sweat running out of my pores,
Swimming in a lake and paddle boating all day long.

All of this sounds like lots of fun you know
Until I think of all the bug bites I’ll get
And scratching all over as we go.
I will look forward to watching the sunset.

I will take a whole lot of photographs,
And we will have a wonderful time.
I won’t be looking forward to the aftermath,
But I am sure I will have lots of memories sublime.
