Written for a friend many years ago who's load was one too many stones

For A Friend

There comes a time to everyman's life

when the cost must be weighed,

the price tallied.

For some things, the cost is too high,

the price too demanding.

When the tally is done, the account balanced,

It's too late to ask "What price honor....What price Pride...."

Is it worth a life?

A Future that might have been?

Today, a man left here wearing a metal box and the weight of a life for which he was ill suited.

He gave his all, but the weight was too great....

Did no one see? Did no one care?

What price Honor.....

What price pride....
