Poem for Week #7 prompt: What I remember
What I Remember

What I remember of our wedding day
is Florida sunshine
and sparkling water spray

My Dad died when
I was a teenager
My siblings lived
their lives across
so many states.

A few days before I wed,
I had a chance to speak with
my Grandfather-to-be.
Pop, I have a favor to ask of thee.
Sure darlin' ask what you will of me.

Pop, my Dad, died long ago
It is my wish that you walk me
to the altar and give me away.
It would mean so much to me.

His light-blue eyes filled with tears
Honey, it would be my honor
to bring you to there for all to see
How happy it makes me
to welcome you to our family.
