after Sept. 11

.I.

N.Y. City, Sept. 2001

Pale dust whirling into the city,
Severing the breath with no pity,
Like a door opening too late,
I glimpse at bricks and sorrows.
Life and death rounding the cycle,
Light is being taught by shadows.

.II.

Savages

They drank wine drained from blood
Their wind ravaged without care
Mellow hopes are smudged with soot
Dreams of world peace blew up in air.

.III.

The First Baby Born After the Tragedy

The carnage of terror,
Ravaging the soul, disaster
Favoring a cruel master.
Farewell to innocence.
Yet... A light of hope
In the new life downtown.
