Life was not easy for young Mary Jean, but after 9 months, she could finally shine again.
It was a cloudy, rainy day and Mary Jean was sitting down on the couch in the middle of the room, looking out to the window.

“You know this sucks, I hate the rain.”

“Ah don’t worry too much Mare, the sun will shine again.”

“It better does, I’m getting tired of this Valerie.”

“Your doing fine. Besides I’m here to help you in keeping the house clean while you endure your final days in your pregnancy.”

“I can’t wait till this is over, I feel like an elephant with this huge belly.”

“More like a hippo.”

“Oh thanks Val.”

Mary Jean was in the final days of her pregnancy, it could be any day now to give birth to new life. Valerie had been with her for the entire journey, which was far from easy. Life has not been easy on young Mary Jean, especially not after a recent divorce, 3 months ago. Her ex boyfriend, Benoît, left her during the most important part of Mary Jean’s life, but he cheated on Mary and left with someone else. Leaving Mary Jean destroyed and devastated. Thank goodness Valerie was in her life and she warned Mary Jean several times, but love blinds. And now here she was depressed and in need of care. Mary Jean can count herself lucky though, thanks to Valerie’s parents, the bradsons, Mary Jean wouldn’t have come very far. They heard about the terrible news and gave her as much as financial support as possible. Valerie also spends a lot of time working around the clock in the weekends to help her friend in need. She worked at the local Flowershop and she was the best coworker out there. Showing great interest in the many colorful flowers and interesting plants, studying them in her spare time. She hopes to have a store of her own one day.

For Valerie this was also a tough time. She was still 17! And she had to study for college and work hard for her exams, and to make it even harder, she also had to babysit her younger sister Ariel often, which was only 6! Valerie was working around the clock, but Mary Jean couldn’t afford better care for herself. Mary’s parents we’re not there to help her either. They too warned Mary about Benoît, but she didn’t listen and left her parents with a fight. 2 years after the fight and she got pregnant. Her parents don’t even know. Times were tough, and the ladies were often depressed and sad. Luckily she had Valerie, her best friend in the world, always on her side.

Suddenly the rain stopped and Mary Jean sighed in a silent living room, while Valery was doing the dishes. Valerie opened the window and this led in an annoying fly, buzzing around. Valerie didn’t notice and the fly went straight for Mary Jean. Mary jean immediately noticed the buzzing sound and it triggered her fiery hatred for bugs. However, the fly was lucky as Mary Jean was in the final stage of her pregnancy, and she had trouble standing up. She couldn’t go after the little fucker at this state. But she did it any way, with much pain.

“Val! Val!”

“What is it?”

She rushed to her friend, who was stumbling along.

“Fly! Fly!”

“Oh for fuck sake!”

“I don’t want a fly around here! Kill it!”

“It’s just a fly!”

“KILL!”

She grew fiery red and even Valerie knew of her hatred for bugs, though even she doesn’t know where this all came from. She grabs a folder and wraps it up and chases after the fly.

“All right, all right..”

“Get it!”

Mary Jean sat down and sighed. Rubbing her belly. Her pregnancy consumed her energy, and she was constantly having a bad back. Then Mary Jean heard a smack and she smiled, but she was hit by a little disappointment.

“Damn it! I missed…”

“For god sake Val! Kill it, it’s not that hard!”

She immediately stood up and joined Valerie, stumbling along. The fly flew towards Mary Jean and she claps her hands together and kills the fly. Mary Jean smiles, but was hit by a massive pain in her back from standing in the room and she began to sweat and sigh. Almost causing herself to fall, luckily she could lean against the table, sighing in pain. Valerie knew she had to act and aided Mary Jean.

“Mare! Sit!”

“Yeah, yeah…I know. Help me get to the couch Val.”

"I'll help you silly, grab my hand."

Mary Jean grabs Valerie's hand and she helps Mary Jean to get back to the couch and she settles her pregnant friend down, returning to the kitchen. Mary looks outside and once again it began to rain heavily outside. She sighed and remained silent, while Valery continued doing chores around the house.

“Val! Val!”

Valerie stopped and returned to Mary Jean, expecting it would happen.

“Yes! What is it?”

“Could you turn on the radio?”

“*SIGH* Yes…”

She turns on the radio and gives Mary Jean the remote so she could turn it off herself.

“Thanks Val,.”

“Yeah sure.”

Valerie returns to the kitchen and continues cleaning the dishes, awaiting her next call. But it remained quiet. Valerie finished doing the dishes and continued cleaning the house. She cleans up the kitchen with a mob, until…

“Val! Val!”

Valery rushed to her friend.

“Yes!”

“Did you get the grapes, there was a discount and…”

“*SIGH* YES! I got the grapes, I told you already.”

“Sorry…I’m hungry.”

"On my way."

She puts the grapes on a plate and brings them to Mary Jean, who began to feast on it. Her appetite grew heavily during her pregnancy and there wasn’t anything left for Valerie. But she didn’t mind and returned to the kitchen. Mary turns off the radio and sighed, rubbing her belly. Valerie continued cleaning the kitchen and began to sing around and dance while she cleans it up. Mary-Jean remained silent for quite some time, not even laughing when hearing her silly friend. Valerie finished doing cleaning and wondered why Mare was so quiet. Valerie walks over to her and heard sobbing sounds. Valerie stands in the opening of the living room, looking at a crying and sobbing Mary Jean.

"Mare...are you all right?"

"*SOBS* No..."

Once again Mary was crying and Valerie walks over to her friend in need. She placed her hand on her shoulder and Mary cried even more. She was still so devastated of all the things that happened to her since her breakup with Benoît. Valerie hugs her.

“I’m sorry to be such a friend who demands everything from you…”

“Oh don’t worry Mare, things will brighten up. Just you wait and see. Rest and don’t start thinking about that dick. What he did to you was wrong, and I’ll never allow him to harm you again. I will see to it that he doesn’t!”

“Thanks for everything Val, your the best.”

“Haha, I know!”

Valerie hugs and comforts the sad Mary Jean. Mary Jean smiles, knowing her best friend as she is. Mary Jean grew more comfort over time and Valerie returns to do her chores, first starting with her study. She had to study hard and long and it was complete and utterly silent in the household for some hours, only the sound of the clock could be heard, and rain on the window. Valerie finished her studies and began to prepare the dinner, cutting the veggies. Mary Jean stood up, feeling the need to go to the bathroom, when she suddenly began to sweat and her legs began to shake. Something was happening and Mary Jean knew what it was.

“Val! Val”

“*SIGH* Off course…just a minute…”

“VAL!”

This time it was serious and Valery drops everything and rushes to Mary Jean and there she finds a sweating, distressed Mary Jean, shaking on her legs.

“My water broke!”

“Oh fuck! It’s happening!”

Valery immediately called the hospital, while also dressing up Mary Jean in a nice, warm coat.

“Yes! Valerie Bradson here, my friend’s water broke!..Okay we’re coming.”

She helps a distressed Mary Jean to her car and seats her in the back, where she could lay herself down. More and more fluids ran from her vagina.

Valery didn’t waste any more time and starts her car and drove off to the hospital, not stopping and driving way too fast. This off course caught the attention of the police, who went after her and ordered her to stop.

“Young mam do you have any….”

She grabs the officer firmly by his jacket.

“My friend is giving birth! I'm in a hurry!”

The police officer noticed Mary Jean, sweating all over the place, screaming all over the place. Covered in towels, which we're already in car just in case the day finally came, and it came!

“Okay, I’ll be your escort. Follow me.”

Valerie sighs in relief and the police turns on the sirens and lead the way. Valery followed the police car and arrived at the hospital. She opens the door of her car and the officer and Valerie helped her out of the car.

“I’m scared Val! Help me!”

“Don’t worry Mare, I’m here. Everything will be okay.

They entered the hospital and they immediately prepared a bed and placed Mary Jean on the bed and brought her to a secluded room.

“Oh it’s coming!”

Mary Jean was scared and she wasn't relaxed at all as the baby was pushing. She was placed in the room and the doctor steps in to help. Valerie stood by her side, ready to help Mary Jean during this time.

“Hold my hand Val!”

“I’m here for you Mare, don’t worry.”

She held Mary Jean’s hand, and her tight grip was very painful. Despite the pain Valerie didn’t bicker and held Mary’s hand.

“Now push Mrs.Leheron!”

“GO MARE GO!”

She began to push but her baby didn’t come out yet. Mary Jean had a hard time delivering. Sweating all over the place. Valery tried to assist Mary Jean, trying to keep her calm.

“Puff Mare! Puff!”

Mary Jean was sweating and puffed her lungs out. She squeezed Valerie’s hand even tighter! Valerie cried in her eyes due to the pain, but didn’t give in. She was here for Mary Jean and couldn’t give up, Mare needed her best friend right now.

“Ready Mrs.Leheron, let’s give it another go. PUSH!”

“PUSH MARE!”

Mary Jean screamed and pushed more and more and Valerie and the doctor noticed a little head.

“It’s coming! PUSH MARE!”

With one final push a baby was born, crying as it was born.

“It’s a girl!”

“You hear that Mare, you have a daughter!”

Mary Jean sighed in relief and the doctor gives the newborn baby to Mary Jean, who held her in her arms. Valerie cried, fully emotional as the miracle happened. After so many months taking care of Mary Jean during her pregnancy, it finally paid off. Mary Jean was tired and was low on energy but held her young daughter against her. Hugging her new miracle and it became more calm. Mary Jean kept her warm with her motherly love, a love she will keep for the rest of her life. The nurse soon took over and cleans up the baby and wraps it around towels. Valerie was glad she was with Mary Jean at this very special event of her life. The nurse returns to Mary Jean and brings the baby back.

“Do you wanna hold her Val?”

Valerie went silent and tears started to flow down her cheeks and she was given the baby in her arms. Mary Jean smiles and at the moment she was very tired. Valerie hugs the young infant in her arms. The nurse wondered something.

“Are you…her wife?”

“What? Oh no haha, no no! I’m her friend, yeah it’s complicated...”

“Ah I see.”

Valerie continued to hug the little infant and sobs and cried. Her hard work finally paid off, and this was a moment she couldn’t ever forget. Mary Jean looked at her friend and was really glad she was here with her. An unforgettable moment that she could never forget. The nurse walks over to Valerie and tried to coax Valerie to give the young infant back to Mary Jean, which wasn’t easy, but the nurse didn't give up that easily.

“Mrs Bradson, would you please give Mrs Leheron her baby back.”

“Okay, okay…Uh..Yes off course.”

She gave Mary her baby back and Mary Jean held her little daughter in her arms. Mary Jean was tired and needed her rest. Valerie was about to leave Mary Jean for a moment to have something eat in the hospital restaurant.

“Val?”

“Yeah?”

“Stay, don’t leave me…”

Valerie returns to her friend and sat down next to her. Not leaving her side unless Mary Jean asked her too.

“So what about a name Mare?”

“I was thinking of…Erica?”

“Erica? Oh no, how about Samantha?”

“I know…Sarah. Sarah Leheron.”

“Sarah, that’s a great name.”

They both beheld the new wonder and Valerie started to cry. It was such a beautiful moment. Then Mary Jean looks outside and the sun began to shine brightly.

“Look Mare, I told you. The sun will shine again.”

Mary Jean cried and held Valerie’s hand. The 2 of them continued their time together and Valerie even slept in the hospital and despite the fact that the nurses took great care of Mary Jean, if Mary Jean needed help Valerie would always stand up and help her. Showing how greatly she cared for her best friend.

And off course news quickly spread and Mary Jean was often visited by the Bradsons and young Ariel. She was also allowed to hold young baby Sarah and so we’re Valerie’s parents. Even the flower shop owners, Valerie’s boss, went to pay a visit and deeply respected Valerie’s way of responsibility, even though that was most often a iffy point for Valery.

After spending 7 days in the hospital, Mary Jean was allowed to return home as she was doing her motherly work just fine, feeding Sarah her breast milk and making sure she gets plenty of sleep and clean diapers. Valerie was there to escort her back home and continued to help Mary Jean in the house hold, while also helping Mary Jean with young baby Sarah.

A new life began for young Mary Jean, a new and bright future was ahead, what adventures will await her and her baby daughter? Whatever it will be, it'll be of grand scale.
