Remembering some great people from a great place.
Texas

I know there's a lot to
That big old state,
But I think of Texas in terms
Of Stevie Ray Vaughan
And my brother Carlos,
For many different reasons.

That big old state,
Which I have traveled
Many times, north and south
east and west
Is a ‘forever place.’

But I think of Texas in terms
That many wouldn’t understand,
Couldn’t understand, really.
It is all about salvation and dreams
When that hot sun beats down.

Of Stevie Ray Vaughan
And spicy chili peppers
I have written while wandering
Through Brownsville
In my rusted out Dodge.

And my brother Carlos,
I can never repay you
For love you have shown
And your abilities
To keep my soul
From burning in hell’s fires.

For many different reasons
Texas always calls to me
When I am wondering
What to do next
And where to go.
